The light trap is used as a part of mechanical method of controlling the adult insect pest population in the field. It consists of a light source arranged at the top and a bucket or container at the bottom filled with kerosine or soap solution to drown the trapped insects. The insects get attracted by the light and instantly fall into the container filled with soap solution, drown and die.
It is a highly durable light trap comprising of the light source arranged at the top and a bucket with 4 holes at the top rim and one larger hole at the bottom rim arranged at the bottom. The light shade is arranged in an inverse direction on the bucket. A drainage hole on the bucket is kept closed by the rubber plug and is filled with kerosene or soap solution to drown the trapped adult insects. The dead insects are drained out periodically through the hole at the bottom. (Timings for light trap - 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM)
